“Yesterday I attended the Alberta Northern Lights Chorus as a guest. I have to admit, I was nervous and worried about what to expect - but everyone was knowledgeable, patient, and oh so very welcoming!
Upon arriving, all of my questions were answered and they explained what to expect for the evening, which completely put me at ease.
During the rehearsal, the director provided kind feedback to the group, while being extremely enthusiastic and encouraging.
Although it was only my first visit, I felt like this environment was created for learning and development of any skill set. The time just flew by as we were all just having so much fun!
I truly appreciated the opportunity and will be there again next week!”

Join us for our “Harmony Happy Hour” Open House on June 23!
Are you a female or non-binary treble singer who is curious about what it’s like to sing on the risers? Have you ever wondered which of our four barbershop parts - lead, tenor, baritone, or bass - might be the best fit for your voice?
Whether you sing high, low, or somewhere in between, we would love for you to come join us!
At Harmony Happy Hour, you’ll get a relaxed, no-pressure introduction to barbershop a cappella singing. You can sit back as an audience member and listen to a few songs, then, if you’d like, step onto the risers beside our members to experience the sound from inside the chorus. You’ll even have the chance to sing along - and don’t worry, we’ll provide the music and words so you can follow with ease.
Curious about where your voice fits? One of our experienced members will be available to take you aside for a quick, friendly “voice placement” and help you discover which of our four parts may be best suited to your voice.
You’ll also hear what Alberta Northern Lights Chorus has been up to over the past year or two, what’s coming next, and why we’re so excited about the road ahead.
And because it’s Harmony Happy Hour, we’ll wrap up the evening with time to grab a drink from the bar, raise a glass, and get to know our current members and director in a casual setting.
Come see whether chorus life feels like a fit for you — with absolutely no pressure. You can explore, ask questions, sing a little, or simply enjoy a fun night out.
