Our 2026 Carol Poole Spirit of 26 Nomination Goes To…

Alberta Northern Lights Chorus is pleased and proud to honour Carolyne Oehlerking as this year’s Carol Poole Spirit of 26 recipient.

During this past year when our chorus faced uncertainty with the sudden loss of our director, Carolyne immediately and gracefully stepped up as interim director. She brought energy, enthusiasm and her infectious laugh to every rehearsal, keeping them fun and light while still maintaining high quality singing and a strong musical focus. With dedication and an unwavering positive spirit, Carolyne kept us moving forward and provided consistency and connection for us in an uncertain time. She generated excitement and engagement that had us always looking forward to rehearsals. Her calm leadership restored our confidence and gave us solid footing again.

Carolyne gave generously of her time and talents while balancing the direction of a men’s chorus, singing tenor with Chance! Quartet, being on the Regional Educational Faculty, leading the arranging program and devoting time to her very supportive family. She did it all very eloquently and we believe that our chorus may not have survived the year if it had not been for Carolyne!

Her dedication, resilience, and exemplary spirit truly deserve special recognition. And did I mention her infectious laugh? Congratulations Carolyne, we are so lucky to have you!
